Wow

OK I was going to ask who the best surgeon for this would be, and this is one of the two Dr's that is scheduled to perform it for my son.

Any others I should consult with?

My son was diagnosed with a congenital cholesteatoma, he's 7, and his ENT thinks it has already overgrown his stapes bone.

What can I expect for recovery after surgery?  How much pain might he experience?  Hearing loss?  And if his middle ear needs reconstruction?  What is the impact of that?
