My son Jesse wanted to tell everyone his story.  Here he is!

My name is Jesse I was diagnosed with cholesteatoma when I was 3 years old. I've had 8 surgerys all on my ear's, six dealing with cholesteatoma.I had a surgery about two weeks ago. Before that I had 50%hearing in my right ear and only 5% hearing in my left ear.  My hearing has never been good. The cholesteatoma had eaten away my Mastoid bone and was very close to my brain. At first My doctor didnt know it was there. They found it during my surgery. If they hadnt done surgery the part of my brain that keeps me balanced and helped me move would have been eaten away.I am 11 years old now and Im up and around after only two weeks. Every thing gets better after surgery. Its a little hard at first but its all worth it. So thats my story!

LOVE the optimism! It helps the resiliency when you are recovering! I applaud you for your courage and will to fight through the surgeries, as I was diagnosed when I was about 12 years old and still have to deal with the tumors at 25 years old. I've recieved my first hearing aid last year and it has improved my hearing substantially! You keep going strong and I wish all the best for you! :-)
