Hello everyone. Never thought I would find a website about this subject. I was diagnosed with C-toma when I was a junior in high school. I had many many ear infections as a child and never had tubes placed so I blame it on that more than anything. When I would be around loud noises it sounded like a buzzing going on in my right ear. I went to an ent and of course he told me I had a C-toma. He said the surgery would last about 2 or 3 hours. Well I was in surgery for 8 hours because it was much worse than he thought. He did not get a CT scan on me prior which he probably should have. Anyway I ended up having my mastoid bone removed. He reconstructed my ear drum all in one surgery. I ended up having it recur 3 times in the right ear. When I was 21 I had a C-toma appear in my left ear canal and had double C-toma surgery. Not a lot of fun. I really cant hear much out of my right ear. Things were fine until about 2 years ago then it came back in the left ear. So I had surgery on the left again. Now my doc thinks it has come back in the left ear again. He cleaned out my left ear and sprayed antibiotics in there and I go back in a month to see if has come back. I was just recently at a water park and got water in my left ear so im Praying its just an infection because honestly putting up with this physically mentally and fiancially is really getting old because the surgery is very exspensive. I feel for anybody who has dealt with this because it really is a never ending process.
