justanotherear;
Hii.. Yes all your prayers will be appreciated and I will pray for you too! Don't worry hopefully everything will be fine and it's good to find out ASAP. If your doctor isn't really doing much phone in and let them know. Do not let them think it isn't important. I have learnt this from my own experience Tongue And i'm sure everything will be fine Smiley

Tabitha;
I must say that did make me laugh! But I guess its just a precaution thing.. to be on the safe side. Will let my mum know Tongue
Oohh only a week to go!! Hope I'm not making you nervous and please let me know how the op and what the recovery is like!

Hey AB.

The preggers test might be something they do in the US, but may be better to give your mum a heads up anyhow so she doesn't freak. I'm 28 so it's expected, but she said every woman of "child beating age" as a precaution.

First thing I will do after my surgery (when I am feeling up to it) will be to chronicle it all here. I looked all over the internet for a "diary" type blog about the surgery but found nothing. So I am hoping it will be helpful to keep track.

I am getting pretty nervouse about the surgery, I am mostly worried about the pain because I am such a wuss. Then of course I am worried about my hearing, hopfully we will all be okay in that area.

Justanotherear; Thanks. The appointment today was just to make sure I didn't have any heart conditions or something that might interfere with the anasthesia so it went well. And try not to run away you've got to get this thing taken care of Wink lol!

Hey,

Yes it'll be very helpful!

I had my appointment yesterday and everything went okay. Had an ECG, and they just tested my general health. Sugar lever, blood pressure that kinda thing.

Bad news though, my surgery has been delayed a week Sad So it will now be on Wednesday 24th. It'll give you some time to write your story though Wink Oh and yeah while they're operating they are gonna just check my right ear and see whats in there and will let us know if any surgery is needed in that ear.

Also I forgot to tell the doctor about my headaches. It's really weird I have headaches on my left side (left ear is bad ear) and they're really close to my eye and its so hard to concentrate and when I do sudden movements it hurts.

Oh yeah it is hard not to worry but try keeping busy, I'm sure being a mum keeps you very busy!
Take Caree!

Hey Glad your appointment went well, that's cool that they did an ECG on you, all they did was listen to my heart and lungs, different doctors do different things though I guess.

Sorry your surgery got pushed back, I know it's always better to get it over with sooner, but another week to prepare might be nice. It will give your mum more time to get things together for your so you stay comfortable. Is your mum worried at all?? Mine is and I am 28 so I can't imagine what your mum is going through.

I get those head aches too, on my right side, and they hurt all the way down my neck, they hurt a lot. Usually they go away and then come back, sometimes they are way worse than others. hopefully that will be gone after the surgery though. Ibuprophen helps but you can't take any near your surgery time. Also I use a heating pad, and sometimes ice packs and a dark room.

Yes being a mom keeps me super busy. My kiddo is very busy and does a lot of activities, but I am fortunate enough to have a good family who is going to help me out after my surgery and take care of him and make sure he can still do all the same things while I am not able to take him.

well it's getting so close to my surgery! I can't believe it's almost Wednesday already. Yeeeesh..... Well I better get crackin on my house so it stays clean at least for a little while after the surgery.

AHHHHHHHH
tomorrows the daay!
GOOD LUCK and i will defo pray for you and hopefully everything will go fine!

I read that your surgery has been pushed a little later. I got told to arrive at the hospital by 10:30 but will have my operation around 2ish Huh
Maybe this is the same for you, but it probably depends on the surgeon...
I have been told that I have an overnight stay, and yours seems pretty late too so you will probably stay overnight. It probably depends if your dizzy etc.

I will be thinking of you tomorrow Smiley
But try not to worry!
Take care and i hope you have a speedy and painless recovery

Girls

Relax about the time of day--my last one was done at 2pm.They have you come 2 hours early just to get things set up.Time of day has nothing to do with an overnite stay.

Hey AB!

So it's a week since my surgery and I am off all painkillers and feeling pretty good. I didn't have the most evasive surgery though since they didn't touch my hearing bones.Thought that would be encouraging as I am sure that you are getting excited/nervous for your upcoming surgery! The big day is almost here.

So I was going to tell you that a button up shirt isn't necessary if you have a loose fitting T with a loose neck. I went in a T with a button neck line and some sweats and then lived in them for 2  days Smiley and it was comfy because I slept a lot after the surgery and into the next day.

How are things? Do you and your mum have everything ready? If I can figure out how to post some pics I will Smiley

Hey AB!
I sent you a message with my email address. If you (or anyone else for that matter) want to see pics, I will gladly email them. I would've liked to have had the pics to go along with my post op diary, darn this confusing site Wink

Glad you got some new clothes! I got some loose fitting shirts before my surgery and I am still enjoying them! Hope you're doing well,

Hello!

Im baaaaaaack Wink

Woaah what a week! Well first of all I am feeling a lot lot better after my operation..

Went into the hospital at 10:30 and got admitted into the theatre before 3 and came out just before 7 so roughly a 4 hour operation. In my left ear I unfortunatly only have one hearing bone as my two other hearing bones were damaged badly and had to be removed. I also have a fake eardrum which to me is working perfectly fine, just like a real one! I still have all my packaging and stitching in my ear and will be taken off on thursday..
I will be having another op in 6-9 months, to put in 2 artificial hearing bones. The doctors said they will first of all try putting in plastic hearing bones if they do not work steel bones and then human bones..
While I was asleep they checked my right ear just to see if the c-toma had spread into that ear, and thank god it hadn't. However they said that my eardrum was sunken and didn't appear as 'normal'. They said they will book a further app to talk about this. I was pretty lost throughout the whole conversation with the doctor so my mum explained this all to me.. Grin
Hot chocolate is my favourite at the moment cuz its quite hard to swallow, but over the days I'm getting better. Haven't been bad with the headaches and dizzyness, but it is hard to adjust my head on the pillow. On the 1st night I woke up with blood on my pillow but since then I have been all good!

Sorry for rambling but its good to tell someone Tongue
and hope your well and everythings okay with you.. how have you been lately?
& good to see a lot of newcomers on the site Smiley

Hey AB!! YAY Grin You are doing soooo well!!!!

I am so glad to hear from you I was wondering how you were doing with things. Hot chocolate huh, YUMMY! Good choice.

That's so great that you haven't had the dizzyness issues. The uncomfortable positioning to sleep is inevitable! Im sure it will go away in a few days and you'll be getting some good sleep.

Sounds like you have some operations in the future too, it will be nice to have your hearing bones back, hopefully the plastic ones will work so you don't have to go through so many operations to find the right ones.

I hope things continue to improve for you, thanks for updating!  Cheesy

Oh yeah I also wanted to ask is the weird feeling on your tongue gone yet? It's been a week for me and I still have a horrible feeling on my left side (op side) of my mouth.. was just wondering how long it took for yours to go?
